General Safety & Security Info
Northport (Malaysia) Bhd. is committed to conducting business in safe manner for
the benefit of all port users. Northport abides to:
- ISPS Compliance
- 24 hours emergency response team
- 24 hours surveillance at all Northport’s entrance and exit points.
Our responsibilities are:
- To ensure safety and security of port facilities, staff and port users.
- To maintain law and order in port area.
- To detect and prevent illegal activities within port area.
- To prevent criminal activities in port.
- To protect our assets.

General Terminal Safety Port Guide
The following actions are prohibited in the port:
- Sitting or leaning against a crane.
- Sitting or standing under a working crane or hanging load.
- Sleeping in any area of the port.
- Taking lift on any terminal equipment.
- Being under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
- No swimming and fishing in port area.
- No entry into operational area.
- Proper safety attire must be worn at all times.
- No smoking in operational areas.
Health & Environment Safety
Always use designated sanitary facilities.
Indiscriminate disposal of wastes and littering is prohibited in the Port area.
It is prohibited to pollute or cause damage to environment.
VISITOR’S SAFETY PORT GUIDE
Security
- All visitors must apply to visit the Port area TEN days before the actual visit
for security clearance.
- A temporary port pass will be issued upon security clearance.
- All visitors to the Port must report to the Security Gate located at all main
entrance of the Port.
- The Port is not a public area and only those on Port business will be admitted.
- Commercial visitors must be accompanied by an officer from the Corporate Communications
Division or Commercial Division at all times.
- All visitors entering the Port must display their port passes at all times.
- All persons entering the Port will be subject to random search.
- The port is a licensed Customs controlled area. All persons are bound by the
Customs and Excise Act 1996.
Traffic
- Maximum speed in the Port operations area is 35km/h.
- Obstruction of the roadways/passageways is prohibited.
- Public vehicles are not allowed to use the operational roadways at any time.
- Only Northport vehicles are allowed into operational area.
- Northport vehicles ferrying visitors are not allowed to stop at any points for
photographing or briefing sessions. The said
vehicle shall drive through the terminal.
- Driving alongside vessels being worked is prohibited unless delivering cargo
directly to the vessel. This arrangement must seek
the approval of the wharf operations officer.
- Visitors working vehicles alongside vessels must display an orange flashing light.
- Parking of vehicles must be in the designated areas or other areas as instructed
by Northport’s personnel.
Fire
- Smoking is prohibited at the liquid bulk terminal, all working area, ships, warehouses
and workshop.
- All hotworks must be authorized by the Fire Officer.
- In case of fire please follow the instructions provided by the fire officers.

DANGEROUS GOODS SAFETY GUIDE
What are dangerous goods?
Any substances or articles that may:
- Kill or injure people, damage ships or transport equipment
- Damage ships or transport equipment
- Damage cargo
- Damage the environment (marine pollutants)
All Dangerous Goods in transit through Northport should be declared to Port Klang
Authority.
And if the cargo classified under LPK Group 2, please check for fireman deployment
